The DST-Amrita Technology Enabling Center, in association with GEnxmy, organized an awareness program called Pravichi 2024 for the technology enablement ecosystem, which was created to foster technology development for industries. Representatives from various industries in the district attended the program and received an orientation on the activities of the Technology Enabling Center. Problem statements from industries in the rubber, plywood, and industrial automation sectors were discussed during the event.

The DST-Amrita Technology Enabling Center (TEC), in association with its academic-nodal partner Saintgits College of Engineering (Autonomous), Kottayam, Kerala, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kottayam Zonal Council, organized an industry-academia meet to raise awareness about TEC and its services. The event featured presentations on the TEC's activities and services, as well as its initiative to create an ecosystem of technology enablement aimed at improving the Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) of prototypes. Various industries and MSMEs presented their problem statements and skilling needs for their human resources.

Amrita Technology Enabling Centre in association with Tiruppur Exporters Association (TEA), Fairtrade India, Centre for Social Markets (CSM) and ASU organised an program on "Transforming Indian Textile Industry'' with a focus on technology commercialization, sustainability, and circularity at Padmashri Dr. A. Sakthivel Auditorium, Tiruppur Exporters Association Office, Tiruppur. The participants were engaged through Collaborative Ideation and Team Exercises by the resource persons. The participant had an holistic understanding of the pressures and challenges in the industry. The various Strategies to integrate sustainability and circularity with innovative ideas and collaborative solutions were developed through teamwork. The event served as a platform to Collaborate with industry peers and Share ideas, technologies and best practices for Co-creating solutions to transform businesses and the textile industry.


Launch of Salt Bath Furnace at Vendor Development Program, Thrissur.

The kitchen knife manufacturing industry in Kerala requires a small Salt Bath Hardening Furnace to enable the quality of their products. The furnace should have a connected load of less than 20kW enabling it to operate without a dedicated transformer. Since the products are relatively small in size, the primary objective is to find an economical and efficient solution for their hardening process. MSME DFO Thrissur facilitated the DST supported Technology Enabling Centre ( TEC ) managed by Amrita Viswavidya Peetham University, Amritapuri, Kollam, Kerala to take up it for a solution. AMRITA - TEC, Amrita University successfully developed a solution and A Salt bath hardening furnace developed by AMRITA - TEC was handed over to Shri. K A Joseph proprietor of M/S Safe Power & former state General secretary of Kerala Small Scale Industries Association( KSSIA) during the inaugural function of the Vendor Development Program organised by MSME DFO Thrissur at DFO Thrissur on 29 & 30 September 2023. As symbolic gesture a Photo of the Frame was handed over to Shri. K A Joseph jointly by Shri. Satyaki Rastogi , GM SIDBI & Shri Prakash GS Joint Director & Head of office MSME DFO Thrissur in the presence of Shri Surendran K. N Senior scientist & Shri Mahesh Mohan Senior Manager TEC Amrita University & other dignitaries.


Technology Enablement Meet, Anokha Techfair at Ettimadai.

DST-Amrita Technology Enabling Center (TEC), headed by Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, Dean, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a Technology Enablement Meet & Techfair as part of the Anokha 2023, an annual national techfest of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus held at the campus from 27 to 29 April, 2023. The techfair was organised in partnership with Technology, Security & Transparency (TST) Working Group of Civil20 (C20) official engagement group of G20 and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the university. This innovation showcase featured over 50 projects aligned to Civil20 (C20) priorities – technology security & transparency, sustainable & resilient communities and education & digital transformation. These projects were drawn from various departments and centres across the university campuses as well as other institutions such as KPR Institute of Engineering & Technology (KPRIET), Coimbatore.
The techfair was inaugurated by Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in the presence of Prof. C. Parameswaran, Principal Director, Corporate & Industry Relations (CIR) & Air Commodore Satish Menon, Campus Director of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Anokha techfest conveners, Mr. M. Sreevalsan and Dr. Prashant R. Nair. DST-Amrita TEC fellow.


Technology Enablement Meet & Exhibition, Coimbatore.

DST-Amrita Technology Enabling Center (TEC), headed by Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, Dean, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a Technology Enablement Meet & Exhibition at the premises of its academic partner, KPRInstitute of Engineering & Technology (KPRIET), Coimbatore on 11th March 2023. With the focal theme of Technology for Societal Empowerment, this meet was organized in association with the Technology, Security & Transparency (TST) Working Group of Civil20 (C20) official engagement group of G20. 30 innovations with a societal & humanitarian focus from DST-Amrita TEC's academic partners and student startups were showcased at the exhibition. Mr. K.K. Pillai, Authority Member, Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, inaugurated the meet & exhibition, and Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean-Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham along with Mr. Divyanshu Verma, CEO, Redinent Innovations distributed prizes & awards to the top 10 innovations of the meet. These innovators will be mentored for technology enablement and pre-incubation support by DST-Amrita TEC. All projects on display were evaluated by a jury and presented with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) certificate by DST-Amrita TEC. Dr. Akila M., Principal, KPR Institute; Dr. Prashant R. Nair, DST-Amrita TEC fellow; Dr. Ravi Kumar K. and Prof. Navaneethakrishnan Ramanathan, heads of centers for Innovation & Entrepreneurship @ KPR, also addressed the participants. Jury members included Dr. Vinodh Kumar, GM, CODISSIA Defense Innovation Hub & Mr. Sriram TRN, Director, Everstage Technologies, along with DST-Amrita TEC team members, Mr. K.N. Surendran, Mr. Mahesh Mohan, Mr. Venkatesh R., and Mr. Rathina Balaji.


Commercial Exhibiting of Universal Measuring Machine at IMTEX 2023, Bengaluru .

Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) organized its flagship international machine tool and manufacturing technology exhibition ‘IMTEX 2023 & Tooltech 2023’ along with Digital Manufacturing at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bangalore from 19th to 25th January 2023. Amrita TEC exhibited its Cost Effective Universal Form Tester (Universal Measuring Machine) and won the consolation prize for outstanding research work carried out to develop and commercialise the machine. A monetary prize of Rs5000/- was also awarded. The machine was developed by Dr.Ganesh Udupa and Mr.K.N.Surrendran in partnership with Holmarc Opto-Mechnatronics Ltd, Kochi. The technology transfer and commercialisation was done by Amrita TEC.

Smart Ply, a device developed by DST- Amrita Technology Enabling Centre for monitoring the quality of plywood during manufacturing, has been introduced in the market. Union Minister of State for MSME, Shri Bhanupratap Singh Varma, launched Smart Ply during the National Vendor Development Program 2022, Gokulam Park Hotel & Convention Center Kochi, on 17th & 18th Novemeber,2022 in the presence of Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, Head of Technology Enabling Centre (TEC), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Thiru Prakash GS IEDS, Joint Director and Head of Office MSME Development & Facilitation Office, CK Abdul Maheed, Managing Partner Seepisons Plyboard and Managing Director Perumbavoor Plywood Manufacturers Consortium Pvt Ltd Angamaly and Dr.Shiju Sathyadev, MD Tranquility IoT and Bigdata Solution, Associate Professor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham graced the occasion. The event was organized by the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The DST-Amrita Technology Enabling Centre and the centre’s start-up company Tranquillity IoT and Big Data Solutions collaborated to create Smart Ply, which checks the plywood quality during each manufacturing stage. The device was introduced to the market after successfully completing trials and tests at plywood manufacturing facilities.
